Sheree Beam, DVM, ACVP, Diplomate
Following 10 years of experience as a small animal clinical veterinarian, Dr. Sheree Beam entered a veterinary pathology training residency at Cornell University. Dr. Beam focused her attention on comparative pathology while finishing her training at the Wisconsin National Primate Research Center in Madison. There she became a Diplomate in the American College of Veterinary Pathologists (ACVP) when she completed board certification in 2003. Dr. Beam was assistant professor at Weill Medical College of Cornell University and co-appointed to Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center where she evaluated studies utilizing transgenic mouse models of cancer development and treatment as well as large animal models of cardiovascular diseases and obesity. Dr. Beam entered medical device pathology while at Medtronic, Inc. with special emphasis on neuropathology. She has received additional training in ophthalmic pathology at the Comparative Ocular Pathology Laboratory of Wisconsin. In 2008 Dr. Beam began her consulting business, Preclinical Pathology Consulting Service, LLC, with her focus on providing preclinical pathology expertise to the medical device industry. Dr. Beam’s areas of interest include thermal injury pathology, neuropathology, cardiovascular pathology, and ophthalmic pathology; however she is trained and excited to work with all tissues. Dr. Beam’s academic background includes a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from Iowa State University as well as a Master of Science (MS) from Middle Tennessee State University. Prior to becoming a veterinarian Dr. Beam spent several years in molecular research laboratories.
